Our Field Research Site
By agreement with a local land owner with strong interests in research and conservation, The Copperhead Institute was granted exclusive access to a 400-acre research field site approximately 10 miles south of The Institute to conduct in situ studies of snake ecology. The site encompasses a wide range of diverse habitats including bottomland forest, open fields, mixed deciduous forest, and pine forest. Over the past two years, we have placed numerous cover boards in strategic locations at the research site to monitor snake and prey populations.
